
As I did my walkabout this morning, I saw this pattern and found it absolutely beautiful: almost a Celtic knot in form.
It reminds me of the quote attributed to Confucius, "Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it."
Anyone care to hazard a guess as to what you're seeing here?

I'm guessing a pond surface; pond algae, stirred by something moving along the top of the water that's making the channels, like a feeding fish or turtle?
looks like singled celled algae to me.
You guys are generally correct - the one minor addition being that this is the surface of our sewage lagoon. (Not a place I generally notice a whole lot of beauty going on!) I'm not sure what was actually making the patterns in the algae - more likely turtle than fish, I'd guess.
