I'll be getting out to put it in as soon as I have a stout pair of clean jeans to work in. (Sometimes the daily chores just HAVE to take precedence, even over gardening!) Glad you got home safely.Gaia Gardener:https://www.blogger.com/profile/00692281131036600613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24376388.post-91682948655465573252012-04-16T09:06:21.269-07:002012-04-16T09:06:21.269-07:00Prof, I am so glad that you were spared as well, a...Prof, I am so glad that you were spared as well, although I could certainly wish you'd received a bit more rain. You guys and the Salina area got the worst of the training effect, I think.Gaia Gardener:https://www.blogger.com/profile/00692281131036600613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24376388.post-27607423606324763782012-04-16T08:39:49.355-07:002012-04-16T08:39:49.355-07:00Glad you and your home are intact and well!! The Monarda was looking very good by the time we got home last night near 10pm ;-) Hoping to get it in the ground tonight. I will be anxious to hear about where the sunflower goes in your yard and how beautiful it will be in the fall!! Have a great week!Melaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10476707833109337386noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24376388.post-44175884629115699632012-04-16T07:05:21.545-07:002012-04-16T07:05:21.545-07:00Glad you're okay Gaia, and that your place was...Glad you're okay Gaia, and that your place was skipped. I watched those same storms go just west, just east, and then had one coming right at us at midnight, but all three faded out as they crossed I-70. Only ended up with 0.2 inches of rain and very little wind.ProfessorRoushhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17827625019371233145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24376388.post-26176686988315638782012-04-15T18:47:35.682-07:002012-04-15T18:47:35.682-07:00It felt odd to leave like that. But, with modern radar, it seemed silly to stay put when we could obviously get ahead of the storm and out of the way of danger.

Perhaps it was easier to think about leaving, though, after going through a hurricane or two down in Mobile. There is NOTHING you can do, once the storm hits, and you have plenty of time (in that instance) as the storm is rocking your house around to wonder what, on Earth, you thought you could accomplish by staying put!

Hope all your friends and family were (are) safe....Gaia Gardener:https://www.blogger.com/profile/00692281131036600613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24376388.post-58641078807808848502012-04-15T18:15:58.896-07:002012-04-15T18:15:58.896-07:00So glad you are well and your little piece of the ...So glad you are well and your little piece of the prairie is intact. Seems like I've spent most of the day checking in with family and friends. When you wrote that you packed up and left the path of the storm, I thought of other friends of our who lost their home in the Hoisington tornado. The next time they were in the path of a tornado, they did exactly the same thing. Time to help those who were affected and marvel at mother nature's power. So glad you are safe. Take care.Gardener on Sherlock Streethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11367115529793643362noreply@blogger.com
