Trust me, it hurts badly.
Despite their painful bite, wheel bugs are great predators for yards and gardens, so please don't kill them, just leave them alone.Wafflesaucenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24376388.post-5323038465020698862013-08-20T14:41:46.050-07:002013-08-20T14:41:46.050-07:00We have the same thing happening here at our compl...We have the same thing happening here at our complex with bees dying after rolling in the blooms of these locust trees. Especially I'm wondering about any of the systemic pesticides, where they treat the tree once and it lasts for an entire year. If they say yes, it would be very interesting to know what they used. We have one Sunburst, plus numerous regular thornless honeylocusts and even a couple that are (for better or worse) returning to their native, thorned status. I don't mind the last, as long as they are not where bare feet or tires are likely to come in contact with the thorns. The thorns are truly vicious!

Wheel bugs are fantastic predatory insects - similar to praying mantids. They will eat each other, plus I've seen garden spiders eat them and I'm sure that birds would be happy for their protein too.Gaia Gardener:https://www.blogger.com/profile/00692281131036600613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24376388.post-71252819226053783382012-04-21T18:09:20.248-07:002012-04-21T18:09:20.248-07:00GonSS, I've always liked the shade of the hone...GonSS, I've always liked the shade of the honeylocust; now I'm really coming to appreciate it as a support of native wildlife, too.
